WhatsApp – the most popular messaging app – will now automatically rank your friends keeping in view of how often you connect and chat with them and the type of content and files you share with them. The new feature will also post the status updates of your close friends to the top of your list.
Status shared by close friends with the highest ranking will always be at the top of your screen and this will help you quickly find your favorite status updates.
The stats will be used in the Status section of the app and analyze your activity with friends and other contacts, highlighting the updates from the people it assumes you want to see at the top of the screen.
This also indicates that people you normally ignore or least interact with on the WhatsApp will be moved to the bottom of the list. According to WABetaInfo, the app will use different algorithms and tools to analyze various elements including how much you chat with a particular contact, whether you are in the same WhatsApp groups and how many times you mention them to others.
Similarly, the same goes for the ‘call’ feature of the messaging app, the person you frequently call is someone you care the most about and so their ranking will go up in the list.
These specific order of rankings will be determined by your mobile phone locally which means that if you delete the app or change your phone, it would get back to a chronological layout and re-learns the previous ranking system.
