Tumblr’s iOS app has been found missing from Apple’s App Store. Tumblr says that it is “working to resolve an issue with the iOS app,” however, it is unclear if Apple removed the app from the App Store or by Tumblr itself.
The app seemed to have missing from the last week. Many users reported the issue while searching inside the app with Safe Mode off. Users tried to solve the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling the app and then found that the app was missing from the App Store. However, some users also downloaded the app from the Purchased section of the App Store, though this was not the solution for everyone. So, this afternoon, Tumblr noted that it was “still working on the issue with the iOS app.”
As of now, it is not clear why the app is not available, however, there are speculations that there might have been due to a certain type of inappropriate and objectionable content on the platform. On the other hand, Apple did not make any comment about the issue yet.
Earlier, Apple has deleted some apps from the store in the past. Earlier this year, the Cupertino giant removed Telegram after it became clear that the messaging app was being used to spread inappropriate and child pornography. If we look at the Apple’s iOS guidelines, it is clear that any app available on the store must have passed the screening test and should not present such material, and Tumblr is famously permissive of adult-oriented content.
