Reportedly, Western Australia has banned light weighted shopping bags. According to a report published at Eco Watch last year, through ban on grocery plastic bags approximately 1.5 billion bags were prevented from use. This drastic change was only possible due to implementation of that law.
Now Western Australia has also banned the plastic bag use. Government of Australia has partnered with National Retail Association (NRA) to assist the plastic consumption that will include all domains from grocery, medicine and market.
According to blog published at Packaging Gateway, Government of Australia has started the implementation of plastic ban and its reduction from July last year. These kinds of acts are highly needed and appreciated.
The United Nations Joint Group of Experts on the Scientific Aspects of Marine Pollution (GESAMP), estimated that land-based sources account for up to 80 percent of the world’s marine pollution, 60 to 95 percent of the waste being plastics debris.
The light weight plastic bags and composites are appearing as a contributing factor in environmental pollution but this issue need to get address globally.
