Yesterday, the Punjab Schools Education Department launched a program titled ”Punjab School Transport Programme” to distribute bicycles and transport cards among students. The programme was initiated to make education accessible to everyone.
During the program, Punjab Schools Education Minister Murad Raas personally distributed bicycles among 16 male and five female students. Moreover, free transport cards were handed over to 10 female students. The ceremony was held at a school in Bahawalpur.
As a part of the programme, the minister gave bicycles to 707 male and female students and 593 students were issued rickshaw and van transport cards.
The programme will be extended to other Districts
Addressing the function, Murad Raas said that, the initiative will be extended to other districts of Punjab as well. Under the initiative, 1800 studens of 62 schools of Bahawalpur will be provided with bicycle and transport cards.
Furthermore, the minister said that the provincial government is focused to provide quality education in 52, 000 public sector schools. He added that quality education is the right of every child, talking more about his vision he said double shift programmes will also be started in schools for this purpose.
The minister asked parents, teachers, and members of civil society to play their active role to bring improvement in the education system of Pakistan.
