Not only Pakistanis, but the overseas Pakistanis are also taking deep interests in the joint initiative started by Chief Justice of Pakistan and Prime Minister Imran Khan to raise fund to build large water reservoirs and dams in the country to avoid water shortage crisis.
On the appeal Prime Minister Imran Khan’ to donate generously in the dam fund, an overwhelming response was witnessed from the overseas Pakistanis.
Imran Khan was in Saudi Arabia for an official two-day visit. The day he got back Pakistan, Pakistan’s embassy in Riyadh accumulated Rs62 million for Bhasha and Mohmand dam funds overnight. This is such a profound and respectful gesture from overseas Pakistanis!
Fundraising event in Riyadh
The Foreign Ministry earlier asked the embassy officials to organise a fundraising event in Riyadh which went very successful. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi got a cheque of the collected amount from Pakistan’s ambassador in Saudi Arabia last night.
The latest addition of the amount from Saudi overseas will cross the seven-billion-mark. As of now, the dam fund has received funding of more than Six billion and eighty-nine crore rupees.
