By way of cardiovascular system, along its root in your body, blood circulates red blood cells RBCs, which distribute oxygen and white blood cells that defend against infections. An average person has about 4.7 to 5.5 litre of blood!!
How much blood can you lose?
A lot!! Whether it is in the form of minor scar or major accident, we lose a lot of blood in a lifetime!!
The technical term for bleeding is called heammorhage, which occur after a blood vessel ruptured and blood escape from it, it can happen inside or outside of our body.
Most of the time our body are pretty amazing, whenever you happen to get a cut, you can heal yourself without even having to go to hospital!! Through a process known as clotting.
In which your blood change from a liquid into semi-solid form, this form a blood clot, which stop the bleeding to give your body time to recover, but you can’t do that all the time! If you have had a major artery cut like, the jugular vein in your neck you would lose a lot of blood, at an alarming rate!
There are four level of blood loss
1st Stage involve 10 to 15% of your blood
If this happened you luckily won’t feel it!! Beside maybe some light headache, even when you donate blood you are giving approximately two to ten percent of your blood in just one sitting!! And all you need to recover is a cookie and some juice 🙂
The next level would be losing 15 to 30 % of your blood
That’s nearly 1 to 2 liter or about enough to fill a large Coke bottle!! At this stage your skin will contract and you will feel weak, with your heart beating faster than ever!! In order to keep that supply in regular amount.
After you lose a bit more blood at just below 40 % you will most likely need a blood transfusion!!
But it’s not about that you might still be alive but your heart will be beating extremely fast for compensation mechanism! Small blood vessels will constrict, to keep blood pumping throughout the major organ of your body, to make sure your survival!!
After you lose all over fifty percent of your blood
Then you will be in a coma!! Your heart will stop beating, and not able to fuel all your major organs and thus, they collapse!! But if you receive rapid medical treatment, then you actually have a chance of survival!!
