“Climate change is real, it is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work together and stop procrastinating.” – Leonardo DiCaprio
We all are aware of climate change and global warming, but do we really care about it? Or are familiar with it’s consequences?
The largest influence on climate change we humans have is the emission of gases like carbon dioxide, greenhouse gases, methane, nitrous oxide, etc.
Climate change includes all the changes happening in the climate or environment that have an adverse effect on our ecosystem and can damage it. We can observe the changes happening in our surroundings like heatwaves, extreme weather, scarcity of water, increasing of air pollution, etc. In addition to these, our rivers and lakes are getting dried up resulting in droughts. Deserts are increasing as the land is turning barren. The glaciers or ice beds are melting which is increasing the level of water in oceans which can lead to tsunami and floods.
Lack of rainfall and scarcity of water will eventually result in the lack of food because water is required to grow crops. no WATER means no FOOD.
Apart from all these, our ozone layer which is protecting earth from harmful rays is damaged and the UV rays are penetrating through it, which is increasing the number of skin diseases and skin cancers, eye cataracts, immune system damage, etc. Ozone depletion is one of the most alarming problems faced by earth.
Climate crisis is a serious issue and it is effecting people globally. We are starting to witness its serious outcomes and only few of us are working against it. And not only humans are getting effected from global warming but animals, plants and other creatures also. A recent report on climate change by UN states that global warming will be irreversible by 2030 which is no doubt alarming for each of us.
It is time we should start considering it as a problem and a global issue which is deteriorating our planet. Before its too late..
