Don’t call me Mrs!
I have a name!. ..
Just to break this practice in the society or to set an equality example, many other male celebrities, such as Marco Saldana and Jay-Z, Johnny Depp, Amber Heard have either taken their wives’ last names or chosen a hyphenated version.
Her wish of not changing a name after marriage….
In our life, we often hear these statement, especially from a newly married girl. Actually, she wished to call her by her own name, name she born with i.e father surname, not her husband name. But the fact is most people ignore her wish and after marriage, her old surname does nothing to it.
Would be a man have to treat her in this manner?
Actually no Well, I can understand her, but the fact is we are living in such a society in which not changing a name after marriage means a person is not loyal to the marriage.. no matter what she says, but people will take her wish wrongly.
Her name was her identity!
Her personality, and a sudden change in the name was not acceptable, it feels uncomfortable to lose the part of her. But the debate of changing surname is a wast topic, and the problem gets resolved when both agree to change their surname or keeping that name which is liked by both the person. But the question may arise that why can’t man adopt her wife’s last name?
That’s so funny naw….. but did you know there is no such rule that only women can change her name, a man can also change their name. There is a real-life example, the Johnny Depp who took her wife’s last name, Amber Heard’s. to change the practice of an only a woman changing her name as the result of marriage is considered standard and not worthy of examination.
If we want gender and marriage equity to progress, we have to support the idea that men, and not just women, can change their names upon marriage without ridicule.
