Teaching is craftsmanship. As craftsman require skills to shape things, the same way, teacher requires skills to shape personalities. It is a profession. And a teacher is supposed to be professional or more than a professional.
A professional, who knows his work well. Who knows how to shape personality and turn a dependent learner into a lifelong independent learner. We are so unfortunate that objectives of school owner are far too different than shaping up students and help them find their passion. Of course, not every school or teacher are the same and there are professional educators as well.
When we look at who are teaching these young kids particularly in lower-middle-class areas, which is most of our population, we find some really alarming facts. Schools not only employ unqualified teachers but Pre-primary and primary teachers are hardly graduates. And even if they are graduates, how a non-qualified teaching staff can produce results.
When we say the that the system is bad, this means that people involved in teaching hardly undergo any teaching qualification. Yes, we can’t make sure that every individual involved in teaching can not undergo teaching qualification in given circumstances, but school administration can at least make sure that they hire people passionate about teaching. School administration at least can make sure, that they employ right people for right job.
In my opinion, the one who is passionate about teaching, who is passionate about shaping up the character of students still has a possibility to find his/her way to groom these young kids even if they lack certain qualification.
