A Fast Company source stated that The Cupertino giant – Apple is going to roll out its first 5G mobile phone in 2020. The report also cited that the company is working on Intel’s 8161 modem chip that will be the first prototype of the company to support 5G technology. However, there are some heat dissipating issues are being reported with the technology that needs to be fixed.
Reportedly, Apple is getting the help of Intel for designing modems for its 5G connectivity lineup but certainly won’t use the company’s Wifi chips and Bluetooth services for the model. Intel plans to design the chips with 10-nanometer fibers that would certainly increase the transistor density (to increase speed) and efficiency as well. The company is also rumored to be in contact with MediaTek for providing 5G modem but this is a ‘Plan B’ only in that case when Intel gets failed.
On the other hand, Android phones manufacturers like Oppo, Xiaomi, and Huawei will use Qualcomm’s modem chips for their 5G lineup and reportedly they have managed the heat dissipation issues.
Currently, most users now use 3G or 4G/LTE networks for connectivity which were launched to the public back in 2001 and 2009, respectively. Talking about the 5G technology, it is expected to offer three main benefits including faster speed, shorter delays and increased connectivity.
Though current phones are still operating with 4G technology 5G phones are soon to hit the market that will be more powerful with new applications and services. Some Android manufacturers including Xiaomi, Samsung, LG, Vivo, and Huawei have already announced their plans to release 5G phones in 2019. In fact, Xiaomi has already revealed about the phone coming with 5G technology and that is Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 with 10 GB of RAM and all-screen phone.
